Asian American Advocacy Fund Celebrates Georgia Runoff Election Wins

Voter Engagement A Key Factor in Georgia Runoff Elections

ATLANTA -- Today, the Asian American Advocacy Fund (AAAF) announced the critical role of Asian American voters in the runoff reelection of Senator Raphael Warnock to represent Georgia in the U.S. Senate. Asian Americans were also key to the local victory of Sarah Beeson who will serve as the first Asian American on the Roswell City Council. “AAAF’s work to reach Asian American voters and elect winning candidates continues to make history, said Vyanti Joseph, Political Director of AAAF. “Senator Warnock and Councilmember-elect Beeson join a record-breaking number of elected officials committed to the diverse communities of Georgia.”

Georgia’s Asian Americans were more engaged in this election than in previous midterms. “Even in the face of harsh restrictions on our democracy, like the GOP-supported SB 202, the people of Georgia came out in record numbers to show that our communities’ voices matter,” said Aisha Yaqoob Mahmood, Executive Director of Asian American Advocacy Fund (AAAF). “We will continue to make our voices heard at all levels of government and push for elected leaders that will champion policies and protections that will change the lives of Asian Americans in Georgia. We are incredibly proud of our team and volunteers who got out the vote for our endorsed candidates.”

For the runoff election, the AAAF family of organizations, which also includes AAAF Independent Committee, and AAAF-PAC, knocked on 84,342 doors, made 336,664 phone calls, sent 82,955 texts, delivered 485,987 pieces of mail, and delivered 4.3 million digital ad impressions to Georgians in English, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, and Vietnamese. AAAF expanded its reach in key constituencies by implementing a comprehensive voter mobilization strategy that built on 2022 primary and general election efforts, which critically turned out Asian American voters—Georgia's fastest growing population.

The Asian American Advocacy Fund is a grassroots 501(c)4 social welfare organization dedicated to building a politically-conscious, engaged, and progressive Asian American base in Georgia.
