Volunteer

Stay involved with your community through the Asian American Advocacy Fund! As we approach 2025, we will have several volunteer opportunities.

What Kind of volunteer opportunities does AAAF have?

The Asian American Advocacy Fund is committed to providing any training and support needed to ensure your volunteering experience is enjoyable and informative. The following are examples of volunteer opportunities that pop up during the year but are not exhaustive.

  • Volunteering for Asian American Advocacy Day

    • An annual event designed to build relationships between Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, Georgia's elected officials, and other policy stakeholders

  • Be a lobby lead at Asian American Advocacy Day

    • Lobby Day Leads provide support as a combination of tour guides, trainers, and facilitators for community members and advocates attending the event

  • Give testimony at the Georgia State Capitol

    • Giving testimony at the Georgia State Capitol refers to the process of appearing before a legislative committee or the full state legislature to provide information, opinions, or expert analysis on an issue being considered. This allows citizens, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to directly share their perspectives with state lawmakers.

  • Use your native language fluency to help us reach community members

    • For people with written fluency, we ask them to review documents since we create documents, fliers and mail to reach community members who speak many Asian languages. For people with verbal fluency, we rely on community members who can speak fluently over the phone or at a community event when provided with a script or other information in English.

  • Support our APAHM efforts in May

    • Assist with community celebration events that bring awareness to Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This could include tabling or supporting AAAF with hosting our own event. In 2023, we hosted an Asian American Maker’s Market it wouldn’t have been possible without our volunteers.

  • Canvass throughout the year

    • Go door-to-door to connect with community members and share information on critical issues and elections.

  • and many more opportunities! The best way to stay informed about potential opportunities is to sign up to volunteer and attend a volunteer orientation session.

about ‘volunteer orientation’ sessions

This 60-minute virtual event is for new community members interested in volunteering with or joining the Asian American Advocacy Fund (AAAF). You'll learn about volunteer opportunities, membership, and meet other interested individuals. Events are hosted regularly on Zoom, and sign-ups are emailed out one or two weeks before the event. By completing the volunteer form, you will get information about ‘get involved’ session.

Hosted by our staff member Namrata, the orientation call provides a chance to understand our work and determine your level of engagement. We encourage you to have your video on for introductions in the first 5-10 minutes. We look forward to meeting you and answering any questions you may have about getting involved with AAAF!
