Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock

U.S. Senate

About Sen. Rev. Raphael Warnock (he/him):

Reverend Raphael Warnock grew up in Kayton Homes public housing in Savannah. The family was short on money, but long on faith, love, and humor. Reverend Warnock’s father was a veteran, a small businessman, and a preacher. He spent the week hauling old cars to the local steel yard, and on Sundays he preached at a local church. Reverend Warnock’s mother grew up in Waycross, where she spent summers picking tobacco and cotton, and still lives in Savannah today. At a young age, Reverend Warnock’s parents taught him and his eleven siblings the value of hard work. When he enrolled at Morehouse College, Reverend Warnock didn’t know how he would pay the full tuition. With the help of low-interest student loans and Pell Grants, Warnock graduated, earned a Ph.D., and was ordained in the ministry. Sixteen years ago, he was chosen to serve as Senior Pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, the youngest pastor ever selected to lead the historic church—the spiritual home of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and John Lewis.

Before running for office, Reverend Warnock dedicated his life to service, to standing up for the dignity of work and fighting to expand access to affordable health care. Since his historic election to the U.S. Senate in 2021, Senator Warnock has continued to lead the fight to expand access to affordable health care, to protect and create Georgia jobs, to lower costs for hardworking Georgia families, to stand up for Georgia farmers, service members and veterans, and to eliminate barriers to the ballot box. Reverend Warnock puts his responsibility to represent the people of Georgia above politics, working with whoever it takes if it means improving the lives of all Georgians. Reverend Warnock is running for reelection to continue his fight to expand access to affordable healthcare, create good-paying Georgia jobs, and cut costs for Georgia workers and families.
