About michelle kang (She/her):
Michelle Kang is a dedicated community advocate and experienced leader deeply committed to representing the diverse interests of Georgians. As a first-generation Korean American immigrant who arrived in Georgia in 1992, Michelle has firsthand experience of the challenges faced by immigrants and minorities. She previously worked as an Intellectual Property Specialist at the largest law firm in Seoul, South Korea. However, upon arriving in the U.S., her first job was as a cashier at a dry cleaner due to a lack of information and access to desired employment. Realizing that many immigrants faced similar challenges in adjusting to life in America, Michelle has consistently worked to empower the AAPI and immigrant communities. Michelle has been advocating for language access and equity, and organized the first Suwanee AAPI Heritage Month Celebration. As one of the founders of the Atlanta Korean American Committee Against Asian Hate, Michelle has actively led efforts to advocate for the needs of AAPI communities in Georgia.

Michelle is an experienced local AAPI community organizer who has dedicated her career to serving the AAPI and immigrant communities. She prioritizes immigrant justice, explicitly stating the importance of protecting immigrant rights, increasing their access to resources, language justice and engaging those communities with the legislative process. If elected, she is committed to advocating for working families. Additionally, seeing the rise of hate crimes during the pandemic, namingly Anti-Asian hate crimes, her dedication to this cause is unwavering, and she is committed to fight for justice and equity for all.
