ABOUT Nikema Williams:

Senator Nikema Williams has proven time and time again that she is an incredible advocate for communities of color at the State Capitol. She is a champion of women’s rights and voting rights, and she has a consistent track record of being a fearless ally to our communities. Although there is no individual who can adequately replace Congressman John Lewis in representing CD5, we know Senator Williams will help advance his legacy in voting rights and standing up for all Georgians.

WHY WE’RE ENDORSING Nikema

Senator Williams has been a fearless advocate for women and families, proving herself to be an advocate for her community over the years. During her time in the Georgia State Legislature, she continuously fought for working families, voting rights, fair representation, and much more. She has been at the forefront of many policies that improve her community, and she defends the values of her constituents and beyond. We believe that she will continue the fight for all and continue the legacy of the Late John Lewis as the Congresswoman of Congressional District 5.

Nikema has led a statewide effort to expand voter access to every Georgian, and she has vehemently fought against voter suppression efforts. In November of 2018, Nikema was arrested at the State Capitol as she stood by her constituents fighting against voter suppression. As the next Representative of District 5, Nikema will fight alongside her community no matter what the cost to improve the lives of Georgians.

In addition to voting rights, Nikema has shown a deep understanding of how reproductive rights, healthcare rights, and income inequality have affected marginalized and immigrant communities, making her a great candidate for this seat.

We trust that her advocacy will aid in the fight for fair representation and elections in the state of Georgia.
