Why We’re Endorsing Ceretta Smith

Ceretta has made Grovetown her home for the past 15 years, and has worked on behalf of others in the military and federal government jobs for more than a decade. Ceretta has policy solutions in the areas of healthcare, education, and veterans that demonstrate her strong support for all Georgians. We’re excited to support Ceretta Smith for Senate District 23 because of her background in labor organizing and her commitment to supporting working families.

More about Ceretta

Ceretta has dedicated her life to public service and fighting to protect working class families in Georgia. Her time serving in the military, the federal government, and on the frontlines of the Labor movement have prepared her to be a champion for our communities in the State Senate. As a small business owner herself, Ceretta understands how investment in supporting small businesses is essential to the overall health of the community. Ceretta is also a mother of three and her support for teachers, students, and families is a central facet of her platform.

Ceretta is a proud Army Veteran, mother, wife, small business owner, and faith leader in her community. She served as a medic in the Army for nearly a decade, and then worked for the Federal Government for another twenty-four years. Through her work, she became a Union Activist . She served in many leadership positions including the Georgia State Council President for the American Federation of Government Employees.

Ceretta is passionate about ensuring working families have leaders in the State Senate who are on their side. Medicaid expansion, fully funded public schools with well paid teachers, and providing mental health services for veterans all are perfect indications of the work that Ceretta is ready to do on behalf of Georgians, and the Asian American Advocacy Fund is proud to endorse her!
