WHY WE’RE ENDORSING Mary:

Mary Blackmon Campbell is a native Georgian and has been a proud small business owner in Gwinnett county since 2007. As a domestic abuse survivor, Mary is dedicated to increasing support and resources for Georgia families to navigate the difficulties in abusive situations. Mary is a standout and passionate leader in her community; she is the co-founder of Find Your Voice, a community group that focuses on politics and civic engagement. Mary is active in her community and has volunteered for her local Citizens Budget Review Committee in 2017 and 2019, as well as served as President of her neighborhood's Women’s Association.

Mary is passionate about finding ways that help secure Georgia elections and increase ballot access for eligible voters. She is a proponent of expanding early and absentee voting, streamlining voter registration, ending voter disenfranchisement, and fully funding our elections so the voting is uniform across all precincts in the state.

In addition, Mary is a proponent of providing better support and resources for Georgia families to succeed. She wants to fully expand Medicare for Georgians, so that Georgians have access to quality and affordable healthcare. Additionally, Mary is concerned about how the lack of quality health care systems contribute to Georgia’s ongoing maternal mortality crisis.

As a mom, she understands the challenges children face in public schools; she wants to fully fund public schools and ensure that educators have resources they need to provide support for their students. She understands that academic and financial success shouldn’t be defined by living in an expensive and well funded school district. Additionally, Mary is a vocal proponent of restoring a fully funded HOPE Scholarship to promote socioeconomic mobility amongst Georgians.

Mary is a candidate that is ready to speak up and speak out for her constituents, including Asian Americans and immigrants. The Asian American Advocacy Fund is proud to endorse Mary Blackmon for House District 97!
