ABOUT REGINA LEWIS-WARD:

Regina is a former city council member of Stockbridge, GA; in that role, Regina created programs to foster relationships between her community members and local government and was a committed advocate for children with disabilities. She is committed to pushing for better public education, civic engagement, and widen community resources for many low-income families across Georgia.

WHY WE’RE ENDORSING REGINA:

Regina Lewis-Ward has lived in Georgia’s House District 109 for the past 16 years. As a child, Regina attended public school and grew up with the values of hard work, honesty, and personal sacrifice for the greater good. She has been an active member in many community groups and organizations and is ready to bring both her experience and expertise to benefit her constituents.

In 2014, Regina became a Stockbridge City Councilwoman. In this role, she secured federal funding to upgrade two community playgrounds with adaptive equipment for children with disabilities. In addition to being an advocate for people with disabilities, Regina promises to fight for people of color and low-income Georgians. These two groups suffer disproportionately from the detrimental impacts of toxic pollution. Regina will ensure that these communities are not targeted for landfills, truck depots, and incinerators.

As a child, Regina was a beneficiary of public housing and food pantries. She understands firsthand the impacts of public resources, affordable housing, and an extra helping hand. In order to lift people out of poverty, Regina understands the need for Georgians to have livable wages, access to affordable healthcare, and quality education. Investing in low cost and affordable education is a major way to achieve that, especially since large sums of debt can hold college graduates back. Regina acknowledges the many financial hurdles that higher education can create, yet the dependency on higher education to qualify for livable income.

Regina is passionate about civic engagement and building strong, inclusive communities. As an advocate for working families, public education, and safe healthcare, the Asian American Advocacy Fund is proud to endorse Regina Lewis-Ward for House District 109!
