The Asian American Advocacy Fund stands in solidarity with Weelaunee Forest Defenders and the movement to Stop Cop City

STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Asian American Advocacy Fund stands in solidarity with Weelaunee Forest Defenders and the movement to Stop Cop City. We believe that the freedom to protest is fundamental to promoting a just society where communities can speak out for a better future. We are deeply concerned by violent police escalation against protestors and stand against the criminalization of Stop Cop City protestors, many of whom are facing domestic terrorism charges. We are unwaveringly opposed to Cop City and the devastating effect it would have on the environment, communities of color, and the constitutionally protected freedom of civilians to protest. We urge Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens along with Dekalb County leadership to cancel the lease with the Atlanta Police Foundation and permanently stop the police training facility project.
