A new chapter for AAAF

Dear supporters,

With a heart full of gratitude, I'm writing to share some bittersweet news. I have had the immense honor and responsibility of serving as the Executive Director at the Asian American Advocacy Fund for over five years. As AAAF is at the height of its work, I have decided that now is the time for me to step aside and create space for new leadership.

My decision to step down was not an easy one, but it feels right for this moment. I will be leaving AAAF confident that we are in a strong position, having built robust organizational infrastructure and a powerful network of advocates. As we look to the future, I am excited to see how our work will continue to grow and thrive under new leadership.

Throughout my time with AAAF, I’ve witnessed our incredible transformation. When I joined, we were a small but energetic organization. Since then, we’ve grown into a powerful team of organizers, storytellers, and advocates dedicated to building community power for Asian Americans in Georgia. We’ve come to understand that electoral politics is a tool—a strategy, not the only solution. Together, we have navigated challenges with resilience, built a culture of support and collaboration, and achieved significant milestones—from increasing voter turnout to addressing the pressing issues our communities face.

The Board of Directors for AAAF will be conducting an open search for our new Executive Director, encouraging both internal and external candidates to apply. This process, which will include AAAF staff representation, will ensure that we find the right person to carry our mission forward into its next chapter. To learn more about the search process, please take a look at the details here. We welcome your support in spreading the word about this important opportunity throughout your networks and communities.

Please know that I am not saying goodbye just yet – I will be around until Spring 2025 and remain committed to supporting our team, being engaged with our partners and supporters, and overall ensuring a smooth transition.

After more than five years at AAAF and many years spent organizing within our communities at partner organizations, I feel proud of nearly a decade of impactful work. I look forward to seeing what this next decade will bring, and look forward to continuing building alongside many of you! Thank you for your unwavering support and for being an integral part of this journey.

I look forward to witnessing the continued impact of AAAF in the years to come.

In community,

Aisha
