About Akbar ali (he/him):

Akbar Ali is a passionate and dedicated community leader based in Gwinnett County. He was the youngest First Vice Chair of the Gwinnett Democratic Party and is now a candidate for the GA State House District 106 Special Election at just 21 years old. From leading local campaigns and student marches to serving on the Citizens Transit Advisory Board, he has always centered on one belief: leadership is about those around you. Akbar stays rooted in our communities and neighborhoods through active involvement in PTAs, the Gwinnett NAACP, and grassroots organizations.

Why We’re Endorsing:

Akbar believes in putting neighborhoods first and defending our democracy. He is committed to lowering costs for families, defending our constitutional rights, and protecting our public schools. If elected, Akbar would be the youngest elected official in the GA General Assembly. He has been endorsed by the outgoing incumbent Rep. Shelly Hutchinson and a long list of other elected officials, including past endorsees like Nabilah Islam-Parkes, Ruwa Roman, and Dr. Jasmine Clark.
