ABOUT JERICA RICHARDSON:

Jerica Richardson has made it her mission to work as a servant-leader for the residents of Cobb county. Her vision for a more connected Cobb is one that serves the best interests of our communities. Celebrating and encouraging diversity, empowering the marginalized, and removing discriminatory barriers are key tenets of her platform that are indicative of her commitment to equity in Cobb County.

WHY WE’RE ENDORSING JERICA:

Since relocating to Cobb county after experiencing the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Jerica Richardson has been working to improve the lives of her neighbors and fellow community members. The outpouring of empathy from Cobb county residents she witnessed in the wake of her displacement from New Orleans inspired her to develop a platform with detailed policy solutions that hinge on connecting and healing a divided community.

Jerica Richardson is a business woman, author, entrepreneur and advocate. Her platform demonstrates that she is thoroughly equipped to take on Cobb County’s current issues such as a COVID Recovery Framework. She has plans laid out that tackle both the logistical challenge of containing the spread of the virus and address the underlying disparities that have been exacerbated by pandemic. In a time of crisis, we need leaders who are willing to develop comprehensive solutions to challenges that have upended lives across the globe.

Jerica is developing a detailed Zero-Gentrification Policy which makes housing not only affordable but also accessible. She will support communities of color from eviction and unfair housing practices. Furthermore, she will encourage mixed used and mixed-income zoning, transitional housing, subsidized funding for code upgrades, and incorporating an income-based tax credit for rapidly rising property values.

Jerica is also an advocate for the environment and being proactive in addressing how corporate pollution impacts public health and the ability of neighboring small businesses to have a viable operating standard. She has poured her work into developing a strategic and comprehensive platform that includes detailed plans to address infrastructure development, community policing, and increased accountability for public servants. Jerica encourages Cobb County residents to shape her agenda based on the issues that have the most significant impact on their daily lives. As a candidate, Jerica has already proven that she is willing to put in the work to be an effective, dedicated, and responsive leader and the Asian American Advocacy Fund is proud to endorse her!
