No racist maps. Black and Brown Voting Power is Being Targeted in Georgia.
We are not going backwards.
AAAF strongly opposes Governor Kemp’s decision to call a special session on redistricting following the destruction of the Voting Rights Act at the Federal level. This is a part of a coordinated GOP effort to strip voting power away from Black and Brown communities.
Across the South, Black communities and other historically marginalized communities have fought, bled, and have lost their lives for the fundamental right to vote and to have that vote count. We will not stand by while politicians attempt to redraw maps behind closed doors to silence our communities.
We stand in deep solidarity with Black communities across this state who have long faced voter suppression, racial gerrymandering, and attacks on fair representation. Let’s call this what it is: an attempt to divide and weaken Black, immigrant, Asian American, Latino, and working-class communities because together, our communities are shaping Georgia’s future.
We are prepared to organize, fight, and stand alongside communities across Georgia to defend fair representation.
