Mayor Newton served 10 terms on the Norcross city council before being elected to his first term as mayor of Norcross in 2018, becoming Gwinnett County's first African-American mayor. He is a graduate of Central Georgia Technical Institute with a degree in metrology. Mayor Newton ranks the city's economic viability, sustainability, and master planning for Buford Highway as his top priorities for his next term as Mayor.
